Brentwood mayor donates
pay to Little Harpeth Club
The Little Harpeth Club of
Brentwood has received a
donation of $825 from
Brentwood mayor, Raymond
L. Weiland, for the club's
project of starting a city
library.
In a letter to club member,
Mrs. Kitty Grace, Weiland
stipulated that the donation
be used "only for.the purchase of books, and that
approximately half the books
be patriotic books in
celebration of America's
bicentennial, and half the
books be for the establishment of a 'Marcia Trimble'
children's section in the
library."
The mayor stated that the
$825 represents his salary at
$25 per meeting since the
time that the city commissioners voted to pay
themselves that sum. He
also complimented the club
"for their outstanding work
and for their worthwhile goal
of establishing a library" in
Brentwood.
The announcement of the
donation was made last
night at the club's "Brentwood Ball," the proceeds
from which will also be used
toward the library. 1975

Dear Kitty:
I understand that my contribution of $825.00 to the
Little Harpeth Club cannot be used as I stipulated
in my letter of April 4, 1975.
You will recall that I stated that this money was to
be used only for the purchase of books and that approx-
raately halftthe books be patriotic books in celebration
of America's Bi-Centennial and half the books be for
establishment of a "Marsha Trimble" childrens section
in the library.
I am quite disappointed to learn that the Brentwood
library will now be under control of the Williamson
County Government. If you will kindly return the
$825.00 to me, I will hold it for a future worth-while
Brentwood civic project.
Very truly yours,
Raymond L. Weiland
