Brentwood Library
BY PAT BUZZELL
Those recognized at the
hobby and craft show, which
was held last Saturday,
Tuesday and Wednesday at
Brentwood Library, were
Wesley Irving, drawing;
Angela Hall, wood crafts;
Troi Leigh Hieronymus,
drawing and wood crafts,
and Tom Fowler, hooked
rugs.
The summer program at
the library ended with a Fun
Day. Fred Smart,
professional magician,
spellbound his young
audience with his feats of
magic, and stories were told
by Pat Trautman, a
professional storyteller. A
picnic* lunch followed.
On Aug. 10 Naomi Levia
and Tom Potter from Fort
Nashborough presented an
interesting program about
the early settlers of Nashville. The theme was
"Pioneer Days" and the
audience learned about the
work and skills of the
pioneers. An interesting part
of the program was the
carding and spinning of wool
and learning how the wool
was dyed.
A check for $10 was
presented to the library by
the Hillsboro Women's Club
for the purchase of a book.
There are many books that
can be purchased and given
to the library as a memorial
or birthday gift. Mrs. Brown
will assist in choosing an
appropriate gift.
Three hours have been
added to the library
schedule.

Library Slates Story
Hour For Childred
A pre-school story hour for
children three to school-age
is held each Tuesday morning
from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. at
Brentwood Public Library,
Building two, Maryland Farms.
Mothers are asked to remain
at the library during this time.
Storytime is conducted by
women who enjoy working with
small children and are willing
to give their time once a month.
No previous experience is
necessary. There will be
a workshop Oct. 6 at the library
at 10:00 a.m., conducted by
the "Pocket Lady" from
Franklin's War Memorial
Library. The purpose is to
learn to do storytime more
effectively, and anyone interested is invited to participate.
Last year the library had
many calls for the American
Heritage series. Students will
be pleased to know that we have
at last secured many of the cop-
- between 1955 and 1972, and
we are hard at work trying to
fill in the missing gaps, This|
will save those trips to Franklin to the War Memorial Library to use their extensive
collection.

Dear Mrs. Carlisle,
The Friends of the Brentwood Public Library thank
you for your cooperation in
publicizing the summer library program. We were so
pleased with the excellent
coverage The Review-Appeal
provided, such a necessity in
getting our first such venture
off the ground. Pat Buzzell,
publicity chairperson, has
compiled a scrapbook, using
newspaper clippings and
photographs, as a keepsake
for the library.
We thank you for all your
time and effort. We appreciate
your interest in the library.
Sincerely,
Marie Eldridge
