something for all ages
have their cards changed to the new
type," Mrs. Shellhart said.
A library card may be obtained at
no cost to Williamson County
residents. Non-residents of the county
may obtain a card for $3 a year. Nonresidents who work or go to school in
Williamson County will not be charged
a fee. The library is supported by funds
from the Brentwood city budget, as
well as the Williamson County
Commission.
Mrs. Shellhart called attention to
upcoming summer activities:
For pre-schoolers (3-5 years), there
will be the regular Tuesday morning
storytime, 10:30 to 11.
Those in grades K-2 are invited to
come again this year to Benjy's
Playhouse on Thursday mornings from
10:30 to 12. Films and activities are
planned, as follows:
July 12—Everything from soup to
nuts can be found at this one!
July 19—From dirty dogs to lollipop
dragons, a pet for every child.
July 26—Growing up green is easy!
You too can be a Jack in the Beanstalk
or a Johnny Appleseed.
August 2 —Benjy's Playhouse
presents a SPECIAL just for you.
There will be lots to do for students
in grades 3 to 6 on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 12.
July 11 —Bring yarn scraps to use
for a decorative weaving on cork.
July 18 —You'll enjoy making
decorative soaps and pomander balls.
You'll need a bar of soap, small pictures
(1-2 inches), an orange or lemon and a
box of whole cloves.
July 25—Learn about sanding and
finishing in the woodworking session.
You'll take home a sample of your
work.
August 1—What do you get when
you shake one cow vigorously? A
milkshake, of course! You will be
shown an easier way to make one and
some other tasty treats, too!
The summer reading program at the
Brentwood Library began Friday and
will continue through August 15.
Children who have completed grades
one through six will be eligible to
participate. There will be token prizes
for all participants.
